To enable the use of hardware that is not working when you do a fresh install, you will need to download and ‘install’ a ‘.kext’ file. These can be found for specific hardware at http://www.osx86project.org

  3. Hey, brilliant video, very helpful.

I have the same compaq laptop as i saw on the seat to the right hand side of your computer, i’m going to buy a new hard drive and give installing mac osx a shot. Could you give me any advice on what iso and patches i will need to download and how to install to make it work on my laptop please?

  5. Hi willjfergus.

    I have a few questions…

I ’successfully’ installed Mac OS x86 Jas 10.4.6 on my Gericom Laptop (P53IN4).
The only things which doesn’t work are the graphic card (Nvidia Geforce GO 7600) and the sound card (onboard generic soundmax card I think).
After the fresh install I updated the system hoping the update will fix the missing drivers issues, but now it crashes on wake up (mac logo -> restart).
Is there any way to repair the installation, or at least if you can tell me how to update my graphic card and sound card (which kext files do I need?)…

    Thank you in advance!

I have a slovenian keybord. While installing I choose the slovenian layout butthe type is Unicode instead of Central European (now my Z an Y are inversed and can’t find @ :) )… Is there an answer to this issue…
That was my last question. I promise :D

    Bye,

  12. Very quick and possibly ignorant question… If I install OSX on my Intel Core 2 Duo that currently runs Vista, can I install it onto the existing partition containing Vista and dual boot? Also, can I access my MP3 collection on a second partition through OSX (Specifically iTunes!)

    Thanks!

  13. Hi, both this and the first guide are incredibly helpful. My main question is whether I can install OSX on my second hard drive rather than partitioning my main hard drive which currently has XP on it? Or would this cause problems when wanting to boot up OSX?

Thanks very much for any help you can give.

  14. I have successfully installed OS X 10.4 Now, my problem occurs with the keyboard. Will I need a USB keyboard or will a standard keyboard suffice? Thanks in advance.

  23. Hello everyone,

I have a problem installing MAC OS X in my PC, I hope someone can bring some light in this issue. The program install fine without any hazard but after the first boot and the fist screen with the “language selection” pops, the mouse and keyboard stop to work. So I have no way to go further. I have tried many trouble shoots including: to use a Mac keyboard and mouse, and make sure of my cmos have the essentials USB’s enable. I have installed the operating system few times.

    Configuration is Celeron CPU 478 1.8GH, (SSE2), 80GB HD, NVIDIA 5200X 256Mb

I’ll really appreciated any help or comment on this. Thank you

  24. you have such a friendly voice! thanks for this man!
