A DETAILED Guide on Installing OSX on my PC.

Well, what can I say? I knew that this subject would generate quite a lot of attention, but this was frankly amazing. And after answering the question ‘How do I do this on my PC?’ for the 50th time, I felt I had to do a more detailed video. So here it is.

A Step-by-step guide.

1, Check what version of OSX is most suited to your particular computer hardware. There are many versions of OSX patched, and ready to be installed, you just have to make sure you have the right one. You can do this by going to www.osx86project.org and searching for your hardware among the many available versions of OSX.

2, Go to my favourite little Web site www.isohunt.com and search for the name of the version of OSX you found earlier. You will then have the option to download a ‘.torrent’ file. This simply a link to trackers and locations on other computers where you can download the actual file. the ‘.torrent’ file must be opened with the appropriate program, in my case I use uTorrent which is a free, stable, program. Be very patient as the download will most likely take hours, days, or even weeks!

3, Find yourself a good ISO burning program, in my case, I use a very stable and lightweight program called ‘ISO Burner’ “Wow what an imagination!” you can either use something like that, or you can use your existing ISO management programs, such as Power ISO, or Magic ISO. Mount and burn your downloaded OSX ISO to a most likely necessary DVD.

4, The fun bit. Correctly set up your computer for booting from your DVD drive. This can be done in your BIOS, simply by finding something similar to boot priority and selecting your optical drive. once you have exited the BIOS, you will be prompted to boot from the DVD, press ENTER and allow it to load.

5, After about 10 minutes of loading, you will begin the install of Mac OSX. Its fairly straightforward from there, but I must stress to you to select the correct packages to install, I.e. don’t install AMD Enabled if you have an Intel Processor.

6, Lastly, enjoy having the best of both worlds. And for any help, location of drivers or general discussion, please visit the www.osx86project.org Web site. Or e-mail me at willjfergus@gmail.com

I tried everything, Original MAC OSX Leopard, Kalyway and BrasilMac. Original and Kayway seems to not be there (prompt only), BrasilMac stops with a ¨waiting fot boot volume with UUID …., when I put -s in boot option, otherwise I see a white screen with the apple logo endless ), and hangs on. The first time I could install it with Kalyway but because I could not reboot from HD (I unplugged the first HD TO INSTALL) I tried to reinstall with the results I wrote before. 13. Hello there,
I wanted to develop a few Iphone apps for myself, however i need a mac… ;( So i stumbled on this.

I have a toshiba satellite and would like to partition my drive and do a dual boot. Any advice would be much appreciated. If it can’t be done i’ll have to find a cheep mac with leopard on it to download the SDK… arg.

I’d be willing to compensate someone to get this up and running, thanks in advance

    Mark

  14. It might be a sily question…
Do I need to create a separate (designated) partition before the installation or will the Leo setup process automatically create one? I just want to avoid messing up my new machine.
Thank you in advance for the help.

    Peter

  15. Hello. I really wanna try this Hackintosh! But my internet is slow n I can only dl one OSX iso. This is my hardware:

    Amd Athlon 64 X2 4200+
    Asus M2A-VM Mobo
    Asus Ati Radeon 3650
    1GB DDR2 RAM
    400GB SATA HD

Plz someone decide which iso is right for me. Thanx alot

  16. In answer to xtrmcdr, i would go with Kalyway.

  17. In answer to Peter, no you do not need to use any special software if that’s what you mean. You will of course have to do the partitioning yourself but you can do it in the installer, and it’s made very simple.

  18. thanx willjfergus. Now doanloading Kalyway 10.5.2. Time left…. 1345 Hours. ;p

  19. I’ve tried installing multiple versions many times. It goes through the entire installation just fine until the last 1% then it just pops up saying the installation failed please restart your computer. Same issue over and over, tried reformatting the drive each time, still same issue. reinstalled Vista thinking there might be a write error with my hard drive, Vista installed just fine. Tried going back and reformatting the drive and running the installer again. Once again ran through 99% of the installation and again popped up saying it failed. Any thoughts?

  20. Do you know about a link to an iso for install on a dell Vostro 1000 laptop? it’s AMD

  21. REPLY for Radu, I would go to http://www.isohunt.com and search for a SSE3 Kalyway edition.

  22. Hi willjfergus! I have 2 questions to ask:

    QUESTION # 1:
My system has the following specifications:
    CPU: Intel Pentium 4 (3GHz)
    Instructions: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, EM64T
    Motherboard: D101GGC(Model), ATI->
    RS400/RC400/RC410 (Chipset)
    Memory: 1024MB (DDR)

Which patched image should I download from isohunt.com? I know my machine is capable of running OS X Leopard without a hitch. Can’t figure out which one would be ideal.

    QUESTION # 2:
I want to install OS X on an external portable HD of 80Gb having two primary partitions of 35-37Gb. I f i’m successful how shall I boot up OS X from the system the external HD is attached to.

    Plz reply ASAP at rhythmbytes@gmail.com
    Thanx.

  23. Hi!!!

I want to have a HackInTosh.
    I have two Questions:

    1. Is a BIOS Hack required?
    2. I have a sort of no-name-PC. It´s not included in the compatibility list at the Wiki. (AMD 6400+ ,ECS Mainboard with Realtek sound and LAN, ATI onboard graphics X1250). If the Installation goes wrong, can I then normally install Windows again?

  24. Willjfergus, how long to download Kalyway 10.5.2 using my cable Internet download speed of 10mbps? Is your isohunt a best place to download or the pirate? I do not understand the reference to “Seeder” and “leecher” Do not understand the need of an ISO program to download Kalyway 10.5.2 or burn to DVD. I plan to start with the new Intel Atom processor soldered to it’s own mobo as has already been posted. Thank you for the video. Roger

  25. Hey all,

when i insert the DVD with Kalyway….and then i hit enter….and text rolls down the screen and slow to a *waiting on root device*…any ideas?

  26. Downloading a big torrent WILL take a long time, however since Kalyway is very popular it should only take around 8-18 hours.

A ’seeder’ is someone who continues to upload the file to other people even after they have downloaded it. A ‘leecher’ is someone who downloads the file and immediately quits their torrent application.

  27. I am having trouble w/ the install. After it install all of the information from the DVD, then reboots and goes into the setup screens, my image is garbled and I can not see what needs to be entered. I have tried to install using the voice command, but I am still missing something. Is there a fix?

    HP ZD8000
    Win XP SP3
    1 GB Ram
    3.4 GHz Intel P4
    Ati Mobile Radeon 128 Mb

    Thanks,
    Duc
